Inside the world of the UK’s leading vegan charity
In a world where the choices we make have a profound impact on the environment, animal welfare, and our health, Viva! aims to make the world a kinder place for all those who inhabit it. Founded in 1994 by Juliet Gellatley, Viva! is the UK’s leading vegan campaigning charity. With nearly three decades of tireless dedication, they have been instrumental in creating a more sustainable world for both humans and animals. Viva! operates four pillars: animals, planet, health and lifestyle.
We have education and habitat projects going on throughout the country (Peterborough, London, the Midlands, Somerset, Sussex and Glasgow):
Unmasking Factory Farming
Viva! Animals is at the forefront of Viva!’s mission. Their dynamic campaigns are designed to expose the dark underbelly of factory farming – the intensive farming method that 80 per cent of animals endure worldwide. Within this industry, animals endure a life of misery, confined in squalid conditions and ruthlessly exploited for human consumption. Their suffering remains hidden behind closed doors, but Viva! is determined to bring the truth to light.
Through undercover investigations, compelling photographs and eye-opening films, Viva! reveals the harsh reality of factory farming. They show the public how animals truly live, urging them to make compassionate choices by adopting a vegan lifestyle.
In 2021/2022 alone, we created or restored 197 sites covering 69.3 hectares. This work has dramatically improved habitats for reptiles and amphibians and a wide range of other wildlife have benefited as well, including aquatic invertebrates and plants, birds, and small mammals.

Viva! Planet: Saving the Earth One Meal at a Time
The devastating impact of livestock farming on our planet cannot be ignored. Viva! Planet is dedicated to highlighting the role of animal agriculture in environmental catastrophes, including the ongoing climate crisis. Backed by the latest scientific research, Viva! creates reports and actively campaigns on environmental issues.
Their message is clear: we must transition to less resource-intensive diets by embracing veganism to protect our planet for future generations.
Sessions can be anything from practical conservation such as creating ponds and habitats for reptiles, amphibians and other wildlife to wellbeing sessions with local artists and musicians.
In 2021/2022 we worked with 45,727 people via our sessions and events.
You can find out more about the projects on our website.
